With representation in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and London,
we are a small team of writers and communicators with the passion, drive, knowledge and experience to take your brand to the next level.
Through a combination of creative strategy and refined tactical execution, we help our clients in musical instrument technology, professional and consumer audio articulate their stories — and their brand vision — to our close network of influential trade and consumer media.
Who we are
We are a team of professional writers and communicators with decades of collective experience in PR, branding & identity and marketing communications
Though he’d rather be twiddling knobs on his modular synthesizer or reading a Nordic Noir mystery, Jeff has been a strategic communicator and public relations pro for over 25 years. As a journalist, has written hundreds of features in publications such as Pro Sound News, Tape Op, EQ and Professional Sound and is also the author of five published non-fiction titles. The sometimes marathoner aspires to run Berlin, where he hopes to employ his feeble German skills while asking for directions.
Kim Carlson Touzeau
The co-founding COO/CFO of Hummingbird Media, Kim is as handy and organized at home as she was handling management positions at Apple, IBM, Sega and Showtime. Her Duke BA and NYU MBA degrees have set her up nicely for a future as a house-flipping alpaca farmer. When she is not doing finance tasks or petting alpacas, you can probably find her knitting in front of a Duke Blue Devils hoops game.
Steve expertly conveys very specific stories across a wide range of demographics, which helps in leading an unpretentious power-pop band—The Sharp Shadows—within the hipster epicenter of Brooklyn, NY. He worked in PR and operational roles at various nonprofits before joining Hummingbird to feed his passion for music and technology, as well as provide a better life for his two cats. If we’re not careful, his combined knowledge of WWII history and guitar-pedal tinkering could lead to a blitzkrieg of noise.
Based in Los Angeles, Katie lives in the right place for both her fashionista beach-bum lifestyle and for covering the music production world. Before joining Hummingbird, she specialized in identifying pro-audio and music-industry trends as an editor for a prominent MI trade magazine for eight years. In 2015, Katie earned a SheRocks “Next Generation” award, which honors female leaders in the music industry. When she’s not pursuing media results for her clients, she’s pursuing another award for devouring books.
Like a baby seal clinging to a shrinking iceberg, Markkus has managed to survive in the narrow cross-section where music gear geekdom meets literary nerdiness. In the past, he's worked in an editorial capacity for Electronic Musician, DJ Tech Tools, Keyboard, Remix, regular Mix, and other fine outlets. His synthesizer obsession has spanned decades and ranged from a financial liability to a balanced appreciation. He is a lifelong drummer, part-time DJ, and when sleep is not required, an electronic music producer.
David is a PR professional, certified swimming coach, book worm and copywriter extraordinaire in Chicago. If you disparage his beloved Cubs, he can insult you in fluent French. He worked as a freelance writer and editor for a major music-industry trade publication prior to joining Hummingbird, where he provides communications strategies for networking, pro audio and music industry clients. If he’s not writing or playing guitar, the two cats probably need to be fed.
Public Relations Associate
She may sing a bit too loudly, but Suzanne just wants to get her messages out. That’s served her well in producing communications results for both start-ups and multi-nationals in some of the best-known print and television news outlets of the last two decades. While she’s worked on disseminating the technical stories of consumer electronics, computer, financial and other companies, she’s also a Pushcart Prize-nominated fiction writer and poet.
Public Relations / Social Media specialist
Currently a candidate for a dual degree in Communications and Psychology at the University of Michigan, Caroline also performs double-duty for Hummingbird on social media and media placement tasks. While this a cappella singer/arranger cheers for the Wolverines, her heart belongs to pandas, and she always has a soccer ball rolling around in the back of her car.
